What is ISM Code?

The International Safety Management Code, which requires a documented safety management system including ship maintenance.

Under the ISM Code, companies must have procedures to ensure ships are maintained in conformity with rules and regulations, with inspections, reporting of non-conformities, corrective action and records. A PMS is the usual tool for meeting this on a daily basis.
